Treasure Bay Casino After Katrina

Hurricane Katrina. Wiped out Treasure Bay Casino. This is what is left. Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina near Lake Ponchartrain. The remains of camps house on stilts. The privately-held Treasure Bay Casino’s pirate-theme gaming barge was a Gulf Coast landmark. But the boat was damaged beyond repair and torn down. The casino moved across Highway 90 into a land.

It's 3 months and 3 weeks since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. They recently opened Highway 90 along the coast between Gulfport and Biloxi in Mississippi. We drove through there today and I took several photos, most out of the van window.
I can't identify all the buildings in the following photos, but this first one is the smaller part of the floating portion of the Grand Casino in Biloxi that was washed ashore and across the road.
The more distant sign is what left of the Outback Steakhouse.

Treasure Bay's pirate-themed casino was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Today, after extensive reconstruction, the entire facility is land-based (no floating barge). They've toned down the pirate theme in favor of a more contemporary look, but the resort continues to deliver good value and plenty of excitement.

Treasure Bay is on Beach Blvd (US-90) approximately 3 miles west of I-110 and Beau Rivage.

Treasure Bay's hotel was completely renovated and it reopened in Summer 2007. Rooms feature modern decor and have beach or pool views. In-room amenities include coffee maker, private safe, hair dryer, ironing equipment, and free wireless internet.

Swimming Pools - there are two outdoor pools. The fully redesigned decks feature tropical landscaping, a bar, and a fire pit.

The Beach - a wide sandy beach is across the street from the resort.

Casino at Treasure Bay Biloxi

Treasure Bay's new land-based casino opened in 2006 and has over 800 slots and video poker machines, as well as table games. The video poker inventory included some full pay games (9/6 JOB), progressives and bar top games.
